Details
Quest presents in very good condition being well maintained and upgraded by her owner of over 10 years. Designed by Mr. Bert
Woollacott patriarch of the family of respected boat builders/designers from Devonport, Auckland
N. Z. And was professionally built in Auckland New Zealand. The hull has been constructed in the
traditional manner being Carvel planked over 38mm x 20mm laminated ribs set at 170mm centres. All
copper nailed and roved. 70-80mm wide keel floors ranging from 200-280mm deep are fitted at
approximately 500mm centres above the 400mm wide keelson. The 20mm and 25mm bronze keel bolts
secure through the solid wood floors. A 95mm x 65mm solid wood frame runs from Gunwale to
gunwale on the mast bulkhead at the forward end of the saloon. The vessels deck shelf measures
90mm x 60mm. The hull was epoxy splined and tripled sheathed in Dynel cloth set in an epoxy resin
matrix. This was carried out at Redland City marina in 2010. The hull was then spray painted to a
professional standard in a two pack paint system. The deck is planked in New Zealand kauri over
40mm x 50mm solid wood deck beams set at 330mm centres and was originally sheathed with canvas.
The canvas was removed and the decks splined and epoxy sheathed by the current owner at
Scarborough marina in 2011. They were then spray painted to a professional standard in two pack
paint system. New Maxwell aluminium deck hatches were fitted at this time.
The vessels construction is best described as "Robust"
